Administrator General’s Office Reports Strong Estate Management, Revenue Gains in 2025

The Department of the Administrator General has reported notable operational and financial performance between April and December 2025, underscoring its strengthened role in estate administration and public service delivery.  

According to nine-month reports from Lilongwe, Blantyre, and Mzuzu, consolidated figures show improved estate management, dispute resolution, and sustained public engagement nationwide.  

During the period, the three offices received a total of K15.46 billion and paid out K16.45 billion to beneficiaries and creditors. From these transactions, the Department collected K26.2 million in revenue, highlighting its dual role in safeguarding estates and contributing to government coffers.  

Blantyre and Mzuzu offices generated a combined K17.8 million, with Blantyre contributing K9.65 million and Mzuzu K8.16 million.  

Case management also reflected efficiency: 1,579 new estate files were registered while 1,626 were closed. Mzuzu registered 379 new files and closed 408, while Blantyre registered 646 and closed 665, showing progress in clearing pending matters.  

Dispute resolution remained a priority, with 92 new disputes registered and 86 resolved through mediation and administrative intervention. Blantyre recorded the highest activity, resolving 37 disputes, while Mzuzu resolved 13, reducing litigation and expediting settlements.  

The Department, led by Administrator General Counsel Kondwani Jawati, also strengthened protection of minors’ interests. Between April and December, 184 minors’ accounts were opened and 137 closed after beneficiaries attained eligibility, reflecting continued stewardship over vulnerable estates.
